The blocked Heating, Ventilation & A/C duct almost caused a fire

My sister called me frantically going on about a fire that could have killed them.

  • I had just seen her over our dinner minute & when the two of us parted, she said she was headed home, now she was calling me while at the hospital.

I had just gotten back to the office after executing a quality air conditioner tune-up on a system in a residential home on the far east side of town. I acquired the call just as I was exiting the lifts at the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business. When I got to the house, our sister was still undoubtedly sad & could not explain what had happened. There were firemen everywhere and cooling experts; One of the cooling specialists explained the entire thing after the firemen had cleared the house. It appears that there was almost a fire that would have burned the whole home down. Upon further investigation, it was established that the cause was from the Heating, Ventilation & A/C duct which had been blocked by dust & dirt. This had limited airflow & decreased indoor air pollen levels. A modern contractor in the Heating, Ventilation & A/C team pointed out that our ducts were leaking which would have contributed to the small fire. The workers did the duct sealing & also took care of the temperature control to ensure its optimal function. Since the two of us had more than one systems, the heat pump & the mini split air conditioner the two of us requested the workers install a zone control that would not maintain safety but also conserve energy & solve uneven temperature problems. I was glad the two of us did not need to purchase a modern a/c. The people I was with and I also got to keep the thermostat as it was still perfectly functioning. The workers emphasized the importance of always cleaning the air filters & vents.
