I have lived next door to Carl for numerous years, and we usually have suppers on Saturday days, I am an HVAC specialist working for a prestigious HVAC company in the city, last Saturday, during supper, I heard a hissing sound emanating from his attic, he said it was his heat pump and added that he had observed that the help with indoor comfort had reduced harshly.
I provided to look at the HVAC systems that weekend because I was off work, and that night for supper, we had his famous lasagna, which tasted fantastic, as regularly, at his house at 8 am that Saturday, he led me to the HVAC equipment, then by this time, the hissing sound had grown louder and more constant.
On assessing the gas furnace, I was shocked by how dirty and obstructed the gas furnace filter was. Since the HVAC repairman did the installation, Carl had never scheduled up for heat pump service. He had since forgotten the rules for maintaining quality heating. He was also unaware that he could remove the washable filters, wash them and reinstall them without the help of any specialist. The gas furnace/heater repair took me about 3 hours, and by the time I finished, I was perspiring like a pig under the summertime heat. I went over the importance of HVAC repair with him once again. I assumed he knew more about heating than he left on, but he had proved me wrong. Cleaning the filters also helped with air purification and improved air quality! We enjoyed supper and the improved house comfort as we talked about everything, including our jobs.
