It took me a while but I finally came to terms with the fact that it’s up to each of us to do our part when it comes to the environment.
For the longest time, I just didn’t want to believe that this was necessary.
Consumption had always been shown to be a good thing in my mind. It was the big engine that made things go. Plus, it was just easier. I’d rather sit inside the air conditioning and then let somebody else save the planet. Well, that’s just about as irresponsible as it gets. I think seeing my children have my grandchildren finally drove it home that I needed to do my part when it comes to the Earth. My wife was glad that I finally got there as she was way ahead of me. The first thing we did was to upgrade the HVAC equipment inside our family home so we could sell it. The new residential HVAC made a huge difference as far as our home value and we sold it for a ton. We’re able to get a great deal more profit from the sale of our family home than we expected. It was good because we took that windfall and put it right back into a more sustainable place to live. The house we built is much smaller yet it is perfectly designed for two of us. And we chose a geothermal heat pump for our heating and cooling comfort. The main concern was to have the most sustainable and efficient heating and cooling possible we even considered solar but chose to stay with the geo heat pump instead. I’m glad we did because I love what the geo heat pump provides when it comes to quality heating and air.
