My daughter was only four-years-old, but she loved the HVAC technician.
I would often hear her talking on her play phone, and she would be talking to the HVAC technician. Last month, they were installing a new furnace in our house. She was forever following him around and talking to him about kids. She wanted to know if he had kids and if he had a wife, because her daddy died in a car accident. She told me she loved the HVAC technician and if she was too little to marry him, I could marry him. My husband had only been gone for two years, and I wasn’t ready to remarry and I tried to explain this to her, but that didn’t stop her. Last week, she was on the phone talking to the HVAC technician and she invited him to our house for dinner. She said her mommy was okay if he came over to work on the furnace and stayed for dinner. Mommy told her it was okay to call him on the phone. I thought it was really sweet that she was inviting him for dinner, and I was laughing. I was laughing until he showed up two hours later and asked what was wrong with the furnace? I told him there was nothing wrong, since it was new, and he laughed. He said he thought there was something wrong with the phone call and apologized for not checking with me first. My dad came running out and gave the HVAC technician a hug. She told me she invited him to dinner for her and not for me, and told him we were having fried chicken and mashies because that was her favorite dinner. I invited him to stay.
