My husband and I were thinking about buying a window AC unit.
- He wanted to buy the window AC unit from the hardware store, but I wanted to buy the machine from an online retailer.
We looked at a lot of different products online and actually found a used heating and air conditioning system that was in pretty good shape. The guy only wanted $100 for it and the retail price on the heating and cooling equipment was easily twice that amount. My husband thought we were getting a good deal too, even though he tried to blame me when the situation went south. The heating and air conditioning system worked for a day and the very next day it stopped. It never worked again. My husband tried to make repairs, but nothing that he did seemed to work. He’s a pretty handy guy, so I think he would have been able to figure out the problem. I decided to contact the person that sold the machine to us. My husband said there was absolutely no way that the guy was going to give us back our money. I wanted to prove my husband wrong and show him that people are generally good, so I decided to make the call. I emailed the guy and he did not respond, so I actually made the phone call. His wife answered the phone and I think she was probably the reason why he decided to refund our money. I was happy that he did, but my husband still believes that he didn’t have to give us a refund in that situation.
