I thought the furnace was broken but it was the thermostat that was broken instead! I wish that I knew more about the appliances around my house, honestly. I really don’t know very much about the things around my house at all, and sometimes it makes me feel dumb. I watch a lot of home improvement videos, but I can’t say that I ever really learn all that much from them. It seems like it goes in one ear and then back out the other. I guess my brain just isn’t really made to work that way for some reason. I know a lot of people who are very mechanically inclined, and most of the time I am very jealous of them. They never have to pay extra money to HVAC companies to come and do repairs on their thermostats, air conditioning systems, or furnaces. I seem to be just the opposite. I always have to pay people to come and do everything for me at my house because I just don’t know what I’m doing. The other day, I had to call somebody to kind of repair a doorknob for me because I couldn’t get the door to close! That made me feel so dumb. I really feel like I should be able to fix things like that myself. My dad never taught me how to do anything around the house because he just wanted to do everything himself. He was not a very good teacher. Even though he knew how to do things, he didn’t really have the patience to show me how to do them. These days, I really wish that he had! Luckily for me, the HVAC technician just had to replace the thermostat and not the entire furnace!
