I became a certified HVAC technician and joined the local HVAC company not as an extra they contract when they have a lot of workloads but as an employee. From the beginning, I enjoyed recommending quality HVAC units and teaching the home or business owner about some ways that they could care for their air conditioning systems to ensure the long life of the unit that helps with indoor comfort. Most homeowners at the time, especially the young ones, were only aware of how to set the thermostat as far as their air conditioner was concerned. Most people will only call the home services provider when they need ac repair, whereas, by simply having HVAC maintenance done by a professional most of the breakdowns could be avoided. The other thing that tends to slip under the rag is the ductwork, as long as the air ducts do not have leaks and the ac filter is replaced, cleaning never comes to mind. When I gained experience and learned so much more about air conditioning, I started my HVAC business. With a stroke of luck and hard work, the business grew and gained popularity. Almost every member of my family chipped in, and together we built a family business. We now have five HVAC professionals and occasionally hire extras when the work is more than we all can handle in a specific time.
