The cost of being careless with your HVAC unit

The notification on my thermostat indicated that it was time for my annual HVAC maintenance.

The home services provider that installed the quality air conditioning system in my home had advised me that for the HVAC unit to reach its full lifespan, it needed to be serviced once or twice a year.

By doing this I would achieve good indoor air quality throughout the year. Before the ductless air conditioner was installed I previously had heating and cooling equipment that forced me to have the HVAC company number on the speed dial. The reason was, the equipment kept breaking down at every opportunity it got hence the constant need for ac repair. I later learned from an HVAC technician that the reason that kept happening was that I did not take proper care of it. Like every piece of equipment with moving parts, it needed to be cleaned, oiled, and generally serviced to reduce wear and tear. From then on I swore that when I purchased new equipment I would always consult an a/c worker when trouble arose and schedule an annual service plan with an indoor comfort business. I can now enjoy being indoors throughout the year. I am warm in winter and cool in summer, and I do not spend a fortune on costly repairs, not to mention simple skills such as sealing the air duct and replacing the ac filter to help with indoor comfort. However, I learned that things such as ductwork cleaning have to be done by an HVAC professional. I had learned so much throughout my HVAC journey that I was advising friends about their heating and cooling equipment, and which equipment to buy and why.
