The house has been needing to be renovated for a long time now.
My husband works in construction so he could do all of it. However, I really just wanted to redo the bathroom and the kitchen. We ultimately would have to take it slow. The first thing we did was replace the HVAC system. We had it for about 25 years and we could tell it was not nearly as efficient as it used to be. Our energy bills were going up each month. The amount of warm or cool air we would feel would feel less each year. It never broke down but we could tell that it was wearing down. We used to have a central air system. Since we were renovating the house, we decided to install something new. The HVAC professionals came to the house and installed a ductless mini split system. This system eliminates the use of air ducts. I no longer needed the air ducts to give off heating or cooling into my home. We did not want the extra dust it was put into our homes and the air ducts were a waste of money to replace at that point. Once we had the system installed, we could tell the major difference in our home. It was so completely different in terms of the air that we had felt. It felt so much warmer and cooler. We weren’t setting our thermostat as high or as low. The energy bills went way down. I was happy with this change in the house alone. Everything else will seem like extra now.
