It’s going to be a long time before I forget about covid-19 and how it affected everything and everyone.

I still carry my vaccine card in my pocket and I get my booster shots when I am supposed to.

I lost several members of my family to the illness and I know lots of other people that lost loved ones as well. During the height of the pandemic, I volunteered to work at one of the mobile covid-19 testing centers. As a retired nurse, I know how to spot symptoms of sickness. The covid-19 testing centers were totally miserable. We had to sit inside of this tiny little modular box all day in the heat. The mobile covid-19 testing centers did not have any AC at all. There were times when I thought I might have a fever just because I was getting overheated. After the pandemic subsided, I wonder what they did with all of the portable covid-19 buildings, testing facilities, and isolation equipment. Does all of that stuff get thrown into a landfill somewhere or can it be reused at another time? I wonder what happened to all of the extra masks, hand sanitizer, and other medical supplies. At the height of the pandemic, I couldn’t find a single bottle of hand sanitizer for less than $4 and now they are all over the supermarket, pharmacy, and grocery store for a dollar. The Dollar Tree down the street even has hand sanitizer, packs of masks, and other covid testing solutions and they are all available for only a dollar.

I hate waiting for things to happen, because I’m not the kind of person to sit around and wait, even when it is necessary.

I called a heating system repair corporation in December, because the equipment was making a strange noise, the repair corporation told me that everything was fine.

The noise was nothing that I needed to be concerned about, so I stopped stressing out every time I heard the strange sound. Then last week, the noise started to get louder. It was so loud that I finally contacted the same heating repair service. I told the lady on the phone that the same problem was occurring and I needed a service tech instantaneously, and she did not have anyone until the next day. It was already after eight at night, so I waited until the next day. After the repair company told me that I had to wait three more days for the heating system parts to arrive, I got frustrated and angry. I did not understand why they did not have the parts that I needed. My heating system was only five years old. Surely they were servicing machines much older than mine. I complained about the time frame for the parts and the director of the repair corporation gave me a 10% discount on the service fees. It wasn’t a big discount, but at least the guy recognized that our complaints were legitimate. That made me feel a lot better about paying for the heating system repair. I got a warranty on the services, and I shouldn’t have any problems with the heating system for the rest of the season.

I told the woman on the cellphone that the same problem was occurring and I needed a repair tech right away, however she didn’t have anyone until the next afternoon. It was already after 9 at night, so I waited until the next afternoon, and after the repair professional told me that I had to wait 3 more days for the oil furnace parts to arrive, I got exasperated and annoyed. I didn’t understand why they didn’t have the parts that I needed, and my oil furnace was only a few years old. Surely they were servicing machines much older than mine. I complained about the time frame for the parts and the manager of the repair company provided me with a 10% discount on the repair fees. It wasn’t a big discount, but at least the guy recognized that my complaints were legitimate. That made me feel a lot better about paying for the oil furnace repair. I got a warranty on the services, and I shouldn’t have any problems with the oil furnace for the rest of the season.

It was already after seven so I waited until the next morning, and after the repair corporation told me that I had to wait more than two more days for the gas furnace parts to arrive, I got upset and irritated. I did not understand why they did not have the parts that I needed. My gas furnace was only several years old. Surely they were servicing machines much older than mine. I complained about the time frame for the parts and the manager of the repair supplier offered me a 10% discount on the service fees. The flight home was absolutely miserable.

The lady next to me had to get up and use the bathroom 15 different times, but every time she got up, I had to move and I felt the pain in our arms and legs, but I moved the ventilation ducting in our direction so all of the cool air was coming down in our area. When I finally got back to my apartment, all I wanted to do was put up our feet and relax! Unfortunately, there was no AC in our apartment. I evaluated the thermostat and the device and I even flipped the breaker for the AC and the whole apartment, however nothing seemed to help the situation so I called a repairman. It took about 2 minutes before the repairman arrived. I waited patiently while the guy evaluated the system. The Heating and Air Conditioning professional told me that the AC system could not be repaired until the next day. The whole reason why I called the guy in the first place was to fix that AC and I was actually miserable that he did not know that was going to be possible until the next day. Why did I have to pay an emergency service fee for the after hours call if he could not remedy the problem instantly. I was actually miserable and I decided to call another AC service company. Unfortunately, no one could fix the system until the next day.
