I couldn’t believe how lucky I was, but yesterday I was just taking a walk and I found an air conditioning system right in the middle of my path. It was the strangest thing, it was like somebody left it out there for me just fine. It was an old window AC unit but it seemed to be in pretty good condition despite its age. I had decided that since somebody had just left it here that I was going to take it and see if I could get it running. So I brought it back to my house and started looking it over. There did seem to be some gunk inside of the internal components and so I decided to disassemble it and start washing out everything. I have to be honest, I don’t think I would have known how to disassemble it and put all the parts back in the right places if it wasn’t for the fact that I worked as a heating and AC technician for 5 years while I was in my early twenties. After I had graduated high school I had decided that I had wanted to go into the HVAC industry, successfully able to get into a college and get my HVAC certification. I was just one of those people where all the stuff came really natural to me. The difference was when I actually got out there working and the heating and the AC industry. All the heating and I see jobs I went out on we’re good and I enjoyed the time that I worked there but eventually I found myself wanting a career change and so no I’m working a entirely different job but that hasn’t stopped me from remembering the skills I learned from my time in the heating and cooling job.
Going to a nice little diner
After a long time of not getting to go out very often my husband decided to treat me to a nice dinner at a nice little diner that had recently opened up in town.
I really like this little diner because it was a vintage style diner with a lot of knick knacks and cool stuff from the 50s.
They even had some antique cars from that era parked outside the front of the restaurant. It was pretty neat if you ask me. It was like stepping into a different time. Despite the fact that the aesthetic of the diner was vintage, the one thing that was not old by any means was the heating and cooling system. The heating and air conditioning system was very modern and was used to keep the entire place cool even during the hottest conditions. You could really feel the effects of it too, if you sat in the right place you could feel all that cool air coming out of the air vent. This became my favorite spot and now every time we would visit I would try to sit in the same spot, this little area right underneath the air vent so I could feel all the cool air while I enjoyed my food. I thought it was very impressive that for such an old style diner that they had such excellent modern Heating and Air conditioning. It really just made the place even more special and maybe you want to come back even more. You would be surprised how much something as simple as AC could make or break a business.
I sold my space heater
What was he going to do with a nearly broken space heater? I decided to ask him what his intentions were for it just out of curiosity
After a good 5 years of use I am selling my space heater. This isn’t the first one that I’ve sold, this is actually the third. I’ve started using space heaters entirely for my heating needs. After how much money I discovered I was spending on my monthly heating and AC bills, I saw no need to continue to use the central heating and AC system. Nope, one day I had enough of spending too much money and so I walked down to my small little heating and AC company, picked up a ductless mini split air conditioner and a space heater that same day and have been doing great ever since. After using my space heater for a while however it eventually came to a point where it was time to replace it. It wasn’t working as efficiently as it used to and so I decided that I would be best if I sold it and purchased a new one. In my area, space heaters are not all that expensive so I would have used them for a few years and then purchased a new one. I knew that I needed to find a buyer and so I posted an ad online for my space heater that I was selling. It didn’t take long before I found somebody who was interested in my space heater that hardly works, but it wasn’t working as efficiently as it could be. It didn’t seem to matter to this person though, which I thought was a little strange. What was he going to do with a nearly broken space heater? I decided to ask him what his intentions were for it just out of curiosity. He told me stuff like this was easy for him, he explained that he’s a heating and AC technician and that he buys broken heating and air conditioning systems cheaply to repair them. I thought that it was pretty cool that he could fix it all by himself like that. He bought it that day.

I got lost in the summer heat
There is nothing worse than being stuck out in the hot summer heat.
The other day I ended up walking down to the grocery store to pick up some groceries.
I had been out of luck for the past week with my car, my car was a real old beater and couldn’t run anymore and I couldn’t afford to pay for the repairs. So I found myself walking everywhere. One day when I was making one of these walks to the grocery stores I normally do every week I got stuck out in the summer heat. I had a lot of thoughts in my mind about what I was going to buy and so I wasn’t paying as close attention to the path I was taking as I normally do. I discovered that I had accidentally taken a wrong turn and I would need to go back. The problem was the way back was quite a long ways away and I thought I could take a shortcut. Unbeknownst to me, there was no shortcut and I only got myself further away from the grocery store. It was a miserable experience because I was walking out in the hot and heated Sun. I could feel the sweat start to drip down my arms in my back and all I wanted was to go and feel the cool AC cool my entire body down. I thought about the HVAC system in the store, the big commercial one and I thought about my own air conditioning system at home with my nice little smart thermostat and how it was just sitting there, waiting for me. It was almost like torture. I was completely burning up. It took me an additional hour to make my way back and then an additional half an hour to make my way to the grocery store.
He liked the temperatures too hot
I was really excited when I first decided to move in with my boyfriend.
It was a new beginning for us and we had been talking about it for the last couple of years. Despite dating for 3 years, we were just now taking the next big step to move in together. We haven’t been talking about it for the last year but we were just waiting for the right time. Every time we were ready to go and move in together or something always seemed to come up, it was either always something at his job, or we couldn’t find a place. My boyfriend works as a heating AC worker so it is often that he isn’t home. He is always being called out to repair someone’s heating and air conditioning system. Finally though, it’s like all the stars aligned and we had the right opportunity to be able to get our own place together. We were both really excited and we rented a small apartment downtown. 3 weeks later and it was a moving day. When we both officially started living together I noticed something that to me was a little unusual but nothing that was too big for a big deal. The first thing I noticed was that my boyfriend really had a preference for hot temperatures. When I asked why he can’t really explain it he just told me that he felt most comfortable when the thermostat was high. He would keep our apartment in the 80s, I told him that this was too hot for me and it made me uncomfortable and so we decided to compromise and get a zone control HVAC system. This way we can each keep our own temperatures the way we wanted them.
Never again will I slack on my heat and a/c care
It’s not something that’s easy for me to admit but I was one of those people that always slacked on the care of my heating and air conditioning system.
Simply put, I just didn’t see the importance of taking care of the heating and AC unit.
I just thought it would always be there, always working for me. Looking back, this obviously doesn’t make any sense because a heating and AC unit is like any other HVAC system and will eventually need maintenance, repairs, services, or otherwise it will break down. I had gone five years without having anything done to my heating and AC system and I only changed my air filter once a year. Looking back, I know how bad this was for my heating and AC system but I just didn’t care. It wasn’t until one day when it was particularly hot out that my air conditioning system couldn’t take it anymore and completely broke down. I didn’t even know I had broken down when I got up that morning. I had just been doing what I had been doing every single morning, which is I got up, went down to the thermostat and attempted to turn it on. Only to find that this time it would not come on. It was at this point that I knew that I had no choice but to make an appointment with the local heating and AC company so they could repair it. I scheduled the date and they came out the following Tuesday. The HVAC technician was pretty straightforward with me and told me that my heat and AC system was in bad condition due to not being cared for properly. They’re highly recommended that not only do I get my tune ups and repairs done, but I should also change my air filter and this time I decided to listen to them. I learned that it’s easier to take care of these issues before they happen than to pay expensive repair fees.
I was being stalked all because of my HVAC unit
A couple of months ago I got a brand new heating and air conditioning system.
This is a heating and cooling system that I really loved.
Unfortunately for me, I was not the only one that really loved it. Go back a little bit further to about 5 months ago and I had a relationship with a boyfriend of mine that didn’t end up working out. We ended up breaking up but he still kept snooping around here trying to check out what I was doing. It didn’t happen too often but it was definitely creepy. However, strangely I’ve noticed that now that I have this brand new heating and cooling system that he’s been hanging around even more so than normal. He insists he wants to talk to me about my brand new AC system. When he came up to my door and knocked on it I was shocked, he hadn’t done that since we had split, I decided to answer the door and listen to him what he had to say only to find out that he actually was not interested in me but wanted to talk specifically about buying my brand new heating and air conditioning system off of me. I’m not sure what it is about this heating and cooling system but it has really drawn him in because now he won’t stop hanging around here. I asked him what he wanted the heating and AC system for and he just insisted it was the best HVAC unit he’d ever seen and that he wanted to buy it off of me. I told him he was crazy, that he can get the same one from the heating and AC business I go to, and then closed the door. Thankfully he hasn’t come back since then.
Getting my heater tuned up before winter
Once the professional Heating and cooling guy takes a look at it and determines that it is okay then it is good for the winter.
If you live in a really cold climate it’s a good idea to have your heating system checked out before the winter comes. It doesn’t matter what kind of heating system you have whether it be a gas furnace, an oil furnace, a fireplace, or something else like a space heater, all of them should be checked out by our local heating and air conditioning company. Every year there are people that have their heating systems break down right in the middle of a cold winter, and guess what happens to them? Oftentimes they have to pay for emergency HVAC services too quickly to have their heat restored so they don’t freeze. If you don’t want that to be you, and most of us don’t, then the best thing you can do is have your heating and air conditioning system regularly maintained by a HVAC company. What I do is every year as soon as the fall comes around, I schedule an appointment with my local heat and AC provider to have them come out and take a look at my heating system. For me I use a gas furnace, it is an older gas furnace but it still runs smoothly. Once the professional Heating and cooling guy takes a look at it and determines that it is okay then it is good for the winter. Trust me, it is a great sense of relief knowing that your heating and air conditioning system is taken care of and that you’re not going to have to worry about it breaking down on you. There is nothing worse than being in the middle of the cold winter and wondering if your heating system is reliable. It adds a lot of unnecessary stress. Do yourself a favor and have your heating and AC system checked out today by your HVAC company and rest assured knowing that when winter comes your heater is there to take care of you.
Nearly left out in the cold
I didn’t have the best luck coming home today.
I had come home from work around 6:00 p.m.
like I normally do, only to find that somehow I had locked myself outside of the house. This was very scary for me because we were right in the middle of winter and it was pretty cold out. While it was true that I had dressed warmly, it wouldn’t take longer for those warm clothes to start being less effective as the cold started to take effect. I started looking to see if any of the other doors are unlocked. The side door and the back door were both unfortunately locked. I then started checking the windows only to find that they too were also locked. I knew I had no other choice but to call my husband. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for my husband to arrive and he let me in the house. He had to get off of work early to let me in but he didn’t mind. He was just happy that I was okay and not freezing. As soon as I got inside I turned the central heating system on all the way up. I haven’t stayed close to the event so I can feel the nice warm air seeping through my cold clothes and body and warming me up. I felt great to be so warm and comfortable again after being out in the cold for an hour. Thankfully while it was cold out the temperatures weren’t freezing. I’m so glad that we had our heating system maintained by the HVAC business too, otherwise our heater might not be able to take the cold.
The heat is unbearable
I wish I had never moved here. Two years ago I decided to move across the country with my boyfriend to live in one of the hottest states in the US. At the time, everything seemed perfect. We were very close and we lived together for quite a long time. Unfortunately, not everything went as planned after living with my boyfriend for a little while. He and I had a falling out and we eventually ended up separating. It was pretty hard on both of us because we still have feelings for each other but we had come to accept that we were two different people now and we wanted different things in life and so it was best for both of us to move on. To this day we became good friends but I regret moving all the way out here. The reason is because I have never been great at enduring the heat, and believe me when I tell you that the heat here is intense. It doesn’t take much to really get out and sweaty out here. This is why it’s really important that I have a good air conditioning system. I do plan on moving out of state eventually to somewhere much cooler but until I can find a place somewhere else, my main focus is on making sure that my air conditioning system gets all the maintenance and tune-ups that it needs. Thankfully, the heating and AC services around here are actually pretty cheap and so I’ve been able to keep my air conditioning system well maintained this whole time. This will work for me until I can get a place somewhere else.
